Foodies of Leeds rejoice! For the 14th year in a row, Christkindelmarkt is back in Leeds brightening up Millennium Square and bringing us some fine German food and drink! Opening on the 13th November (this Friday in other words) and finishing for a well deserved break on the 20th December, the market brings 40 stalls of German joy to the middle of Leeds.
While we all know that the beer tent is going to be rammed every day (perhaps one to avoid with the little ones!) the food and drink on offer is pretty authentic! Having a father who lives in Berlin (albeit not the magical Black Forest or another area renowned for its wonderful Christmas markets), I have had a fair amount of experience and knowledge about the products and while they are fairly heavily marked up, they are the real deal.
For me, the bratwurst stalls are clearly the winner in terms of the tastiest treats on offer, but of course you can’t go wrong with an ‘Ich Liebe Dich’ gingerbread heart if you are looking for a romantic gesture to keep your loved one sweet!
Let us know what you are looking forward to or, if you have had the chance to head down and try out this year’s offerings, let us know what the real hits (and perhaps the misses are!) this year.
