North Yorkshire farm shop shortlisted for Farm Shop of the Year Awards

We all know that Yorkshire boasts some of the best local produce and tastiest foodie delights across the country (and even further afield), but today there’s further proof that we have exceptional produce on our doorstep!

Cedarbarn Farm Shop and Café hopes to bring home another award after being nominated for the Farm Shop and Deli Awards. Now in their eleventh year of trading, Cedarbarn have been shortlisted for Best Farm shop.  The good news comes as the shop and café prepare to expand their premises extensively this summer.

Established on a fourth generation family farm, Cedarbarn began as a small ‘pick your own’ strawberries operation, blossoming steadily into a much loved, thriving farm shop and café showcasing the very best of Yorkshire food and drink.

Mandy Avison, who runs the farm shop with her husband Karl spoke of her dedication to the shop, and how things are going from strength to strength.  The farm shop is set for expansion this summer and the team are working with the multi-award winning chef Stephanie Moon to develop new menus and create a range of ready to cook meals for the farm shop.

“It is a great honour to be shortlisted for these awards, to see our shop and café ranked amongst the best in the county is incredibly rewarding.  We’re very excited about our expansion and refurbishment this summer which will allow us to extend our menus and build on our farm shop offer. Demand for the café and our Great Taste Award winning meals have really flourished in recent years so a new kitchen will help us expand bespoke production.”

She added “Cedarbarn remains committed to delivering superb local produce, sourcing from within a 30-mile radius and supporting the rural economy in Pickering through vibrant events, educational visits and fundraising.”

From handmade meat pies to locally produced cheese, preserves, beers, the team are incredibly proud of their shop and hope their hard work will reflect on judges at this year’s award ceremonies. They have also been praised for their diversity, particularly for their range of gluten free alternatives.
