Baby led weaning: Two of the best bibs for BLW babies

There are certain products when you’re doing baby led weaning that are simply essential. One of these is a good bib!

Here are two of our top picks for baby led weaning bibs, both coming in at a very affordable price point.

Tommee Tippee Explora Easy-Roll Bib

This bib from Tommee Tippee has a lot going for it. Made of a soft and light material, rather than the sort of hard plastic that some similar bibs are made of, it’s comfortable for little ones to wear as it moulds easily to their shape and movement as they eat.

The design of the bib encourages air-flow and prevents irritation to their skin, which is great when baby led weaning as sometimes you just have to get the baby out of their clothes before eating commences (e.g. for a spaghetti and meatballs dinner!).

The scoop shape of the bib catches food as it falls, which means that your floor/high chair should stay relatively mess-free.

One of the best things about this bib from Tommee Tippee is that it rolls up really easily and stays in a rolled up position, making it perfect for shoving in a nappy bag before heading out for a meal.

Ikea Kladd Prickar Bib

These bibs from Ikea are perfect for those mealtimes where mess is guaranteed. It’s fitted onto the baby as a shirt would be, ensuring that arms, trunk, and neck are completely covered.

We tend to use this sort of bib when things are about to get really messy with baby led weaning but it might be too cold for getting the little one naked in their high chair!

The bib wipes dry really easily and if a more thorough clean is needed, it can be soaked in warm soapy water and then left to dry on the side (or in an airing cupboard if you need to use it again quickly).

At the front of the bib is a small pocket that catches some of the food dropped by baby (although not as much will be caught as with the Tommee Tippee model).
