The five best steak restaurants in Leeds city centre

Steak is one of those ingredients that needs to be treated with the utmost respect. Having previously murdered a T-bone steak by cooking it well done by mistake and having eaten pavé steak that tasted as tough as trying to eat a pavement, we know how important it is to get a good steak when you are paying the big bucks.

With this in mind, today we bring you our guide to five restaurants in Leeds where you can guarantee your steak will be treated with the love and attention it deserves.

Sous Le Nez

Fabulous, French and full of flavour. Sous Le Nez offers a range of great meat dishes but the winning dish here is the stunning plain grilled fillet steak. Sumptuous meat with a range of lovely sauces (although we always recommend peppercorn) and with a great range of beautiful wines to go with your dish, this sophisticated basement bistro is a top choice for steak lovers in the city.

Gaucho

Think of steak in Leeds and it is hard to look beyond this wonderful restaurant. The food on offer is spectacular, with even the cheaper cuts of beef treated with a great deal of respect.

We are huge fans of Gaucho and love that the staff are so passionate about the ethos of the restaurant. You can’t ask for much more if you are a steak lover. Even if you’re new to steak and don’t know what you like, Gaucho is still a top choice for you with their philosophy of explaining (and showing thanks to their meat board) each cut before you order.

Stockdales

Josper Grill

With its Josper Grill, cuts of steak on display for you to drool at, and one of the swankiest dining environments in town, Stockdales is a spectacular steak option. While there are many reasons to visit Stockdales, perhaps the most important is the fact that the Stockdales team has managed to get British Wagyu Beef on the menu.

If you fancy really treating yourself, the cote de boeuf or chateaubriand (both to share) are real stars of the menu.

Blackhouse

GOTS6

Offering the best in British beef with a range of cuts and making no bones about the fact that steak is meant to be enjoyed as an all-out feast, Blackhouse sells some of the finest cuts in town.

Add into the mix the fact that you can take on the ‘Big Boy Cuts’ for a cool £75 and you’ve got a truly winning combo. Just make sure you take your appetite A-game with you here.

Cattle Grid

A little bit more relaxed than some of the other options on this list but nonetheless a tasty option, Cattle Grid in Leeds is somewhere for the whole family to tuck into a juicy steak (even the little ones can enjoy a minute steak and chips!). You can also get a fantastic T-bone steak without seeing your whole pay packet disappear.

In short, while this might not be the most sophisticated option on this list, it is still certainly one of the tastiest!
