Five places to jazz up your weekday working lunch in Leeds city centre

Leeds boasts some pretty awesome places to eat out in general, but when it comes to jazzing up that work lunchtime (there comes a point when that tin of soup or ham sandwich just won’t cut the mustard), there’s a whole host of yummy options smack bang in the middle of the city.

While our list is not exhaustive (please feel free to share any other tips you might have), we think it covers a great range of foods and caters for all tastes.

Wolf Street Food

A great place to go whether you’re feeling healthy, or hungry, or both! You can grab pizzas cooked fresh to order, salads for those watching their waistlines, and plenty more besides. If it’s no-nonsense Italian you’re looking for and you need it fast or want to take it back to your desk, head to Wolf.

Nom Deli

If Vietnamese is more your thing, head to Nom Deli. They offer baguettes with a twist, stuffed full of Vietnamese fillings such as duck, pork, and marinated fish. If you want something a little lighter, their summer rolls are not only beautiful to look at, but they taste fantastic as well. We recommend the prawn summer rolls, stuffed with noodles, gorgeous mint leaves, and plump fresh prawns.

Nourish

Healthy options that pack a real flavour punch is what Nourish in Leeds is all about. Fast food service without the grease and offering an awesome range of dishes such as beef rendang and sweet potato jacket potatoes with chilli, Nourish has something to keep everyone happy. An added bonus is the rewards scheme, which is all about helping to feed those who are in need in the city, so you can feel healthy and virtuous as you take a break from your desk.

Philpotts

If sandwiches and salads made fresh to order is your thing, head to Philpotts. This is lunch in Leeds done the right way. We love the fresh Greek salad, piled high with crumbly feta and black olives, and if we’re feeling naughty, we can’t resist the hot chicken sandwich. Round it all off with a slice of cake and a coffee and you’ll have all the energy you need to get you through the afternoon.

Where is it: 41 St Pauls Street, Leeds, LS1 2JG.

Rola Wala

Rola Wala sells epic Indian street food wraps. Pick your meat filling, your accompaniments, and your spice level, and watch it all get wrapped up inside a divine Indian bread wrap. The food here is cheap and substantial and perfect for taking back to the office.

Where is it:  Trinity Kitchen, Albion Street, Leeds, LS1 5AY
