With the 2016 Michelin star list now out, Yorkshire has once again shown that the region truly is God’s own country when it comes to fine food! The area is still able to boast six Michelin starred restaurants, with the only sad news coming in the form of The Old Vicarage losing its star.
The positive news (at least as far as Leeds foodies are concerned!) is that this year’s Great British Menu sensation Michael O’Hare has seen his Man Behind The Curtain restaurant move into the Michelin Star category, which gives the experimental chef the level of recognition that his unique style deserves.
With The Yorke Arms, Box Tree, Star Inn at Harome, The Black Swan at Oldstead and The Pipe and Glass Inn all maintaining their stars, the fact remains that outside of London, Yorkshire truly is the foodie capital of the UK!
On a side note, the guide is also notable for the fact that the Fat Duck is not in this year’s renewal, and that Manchester continues to miss out on getting one of its eateries to a Michelin Star level.
