Christmas in Leeds 2016: Five top choices for your office meal out

Christmas meals at work can be a nightmare to organise; it’s virtually impossible to please everyone with the location and people have different tastes and preferences. Our tips for five top foodie choices in Leeds should help remove some of the stress from proceedings!

Do let us know if you think we’ve missed anywhere by commenting below!

Stockdales of Yorkshire

With some luxurious private dining rooms, steak to die for, and a reputation as one of the premier steakhouses in the city, Stockdales is a great option for office parties where food is the real focus. The Christmas menu contains some stunning options, including some mouth-watering red wine beef cheek, and the wine list is extensive. If you’re looking to splurge after a year of success, Stockdales is the perfect location.

The menu is pretty reasonable, with two courses coming in at £24.95 and a three course meal setting you back £29.95, so there may well be a few pennies left in the office budget to enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail or three!

Sous Le Nez

For those of you looking for a classy evening in a restaurant where food is downright stunning and the wine is top-notch, you need look no further than the French cuisine on offer at Sous Le Nez. Coming in at £ 27.95 from Monday to Wednesday and £29.95 between Thursday and Saturday, and with choices like slow cooked lamb shoulder with wild mushrooms, baby onions and minted potatoes, just the thought of going here makes our mouths water!

Tharavadu

While not the most festive of locations, this is still probably the best place to have a celebratory Christmas curry in Leeds. Curries are still one of the most popular options for an office Christmas meal (it might have something to do with how well they go with beer…) and Tharavadu manages to elevate itself above the normal booze-fest by offering amazing food that will keep even the tee-total in your group delighted. Offerings such as Achayans Aadu curry are winning options for a reasonably priced set menu that comes in at either £21.95 or £26.95.

Pintura

Spread over three floors, including a meze level that has a private dining area, Pintura and their amazing tapas offerings will have something to suit everyone’s tastes. With the menu coming in at £24.95 (£29.95 with dessert) and the drinks here pretty incredible there aren’t going to be many better crowd-pleasing options for this kind of price. For us, the Christmas tapas twists such as pavo a la parrilla (turkey with romanesco) and coles de bruselas give Pintura a nice festive touch that will give even tapas regulars something different to enjoy.

Turtle Bay

We don’t like throwing lots of chain options on our lists, but for a Turtley different (our apologies!) Christmas in the middle of Leeds, Turtle Bay cannot be ignored.

With a bar area to congregate in before you sit down for your meal (a great way to avoid the “how do I avoid sitting next to them” awkwardness), and two for one cocktails on virtually all day, this is a great place to enjoy a far more casual office meal. It’s also in the perfect location for continuing the night at many of the clubs/bars in the centre of Leeds.

As well as this, the food itself is rather tasty. ‘Our curry goat’ dish will appeal to those who like their food a little milder whilst the jerk dishes will be sufficiently spicy for any spice fiends in your party.
