Family Days Out

Four family friendly places to celebrate Yorkshire Day!

Ripon Racecourse

From one of our recent posts, you’ll already know that we think Ripon Races is a lovely place to go with little ones (even if just to stop off on the way back to Leeds for a Ripley ripple!). Why not celebrate Yorkshire Day this year with them at one of their designated kids days? There’ll be great racing action to take in, and plenty to keep the kids happy.

Ilkley Summer Festival

Ilkley is such a gorgeous place that it is a pleasure to head there at any time of year. Tomorrow, though, they’re going all out to celebrate Yorkshire Day, with the town crier calling for order to open the festival, then plenty of live music and entertainment to keep you going throughout the course of the day. The whole thing kicks off at 11.40am.

Intergalactic games at RHS Harlow Carr

If the weather is nice, there are few better places to head to in Yorkshire than Harlow Carr. Tomorrow, you can take a picnic along to Harlow Carr’s Intergalactic Games! Harlow Carr is turning space-themed this summer, and tomorrow you can take part in a range of family activities, including rocket-making workshops and storytelling. There will also be a cosmic welly wanging competition to take part in! With Betty’s on the premises, you don’t need many more excuses to head to Harrogate this Yorkshire Day.

Celebrate Yorkshire Day in Halifax

Halifax is hosting a range of celebrations to mark Yorkshire Day tomorrow. There will be over 200 civic dignitaries in attendance from across the region, a parade through town, live jazz, and of course buildings and businesses dressed in Yorkshire themed attire! Halifax are taking their duties very seriously indeed, so head down there if you can.
