So Christmas is coming around again (as it does every year!) and you may well be looking for the ultimate foodie gift for a loved one, or perhaps a gift to encourage someone you love to get into cooking, or even as a gift for someone who might just have everything!
Whatever your reasons and whatever you need, this list should give you a great idea of places to grab some exciting foodie gifts this year.
George and Joseph’s
If you like cheese, then you need to visit George and Joseph’s. If you’re popping down to buy your own cheese and suddenly remember that you need a few gifts, their hampers, cheeses, and cheese making kits all make excellent presents for foodies. If it makes you feel better about buying unhealthy food, just remember that you are supporting a local business!
1C Regent Street, Chapel Allerton, Leeds, LS7 4PE
Leeds Christkindelmarkt (German Market)
Okay, most of you who go to the German market are going to be aiming to indulge in some bratwurst and/or a Maß (a stein of beer to you and me) but you can also buy a few gifts here to bring a bit of continental flavour to the pressie pile under the Christmas tree. The gingerbread hearts are going to help you win someone’s heart but if you fancy being a bit more authentic, go for the stollen; they are not only a traditional food item but taste incredible too!
Millennium Square, Leeds, West Yorkshire LS1 3DW
Crag House Farm
If you don’t venture out to North West Leeds that often, you need to make sure you do this festive period; the views from the Chevin are fantastic! If you want to make your visit over to this neck of the woods even tastier, visit Crag House Farm and pick up some wonderful bits of Yorkshire produce. My favourite bread dipping sauce from Charlie & Ivy’s is on offer here, and, just to make it even better, the cafe here is awesome and the money raised all goes to a good cause. What more can you ask for?
Crag House Farm, Otley Old Rd, Leeds, West Yorkshire LS16 7NH
Salvo’s Salumeria
While Salvo’s is a well known brand across Leeds, the Salumeria is slightly off the map despite offering some amazing food and being nearly next door to the main restaurant!
With wonderful traditional Italian produce that has been sourced from the very best Italian providers, this could be the perfect place for a do it yourself hamper. Again, once you’ve done your shopping, you can chow down on some cracking food, making it an even better place to visit!
107 Otley Rd, Leeds LS6 3PX
Harvey Nichols
Okay, Harvey Nichols is a major brand that we all know and yes, it is a chain, but let’s be honest, if you are looking for a top quality ingredient that you really can’t track down somewhere else, then this is the place for you!
With some wonderful wine and some particularly interesting special bottles of champagne as well as some crazy ingredients (including candied bugs) on sale, this could be the place that provides some of the more memorable foodie Christmas gifts this year!
107-111 Briggate, Leed, LS1 6AZ
