Leeds festive food news: Check out some cheese, Nutella and cats in pyjamas this December

Harvey Nichols pop up shop and personalised Nutella

If you haven’t been into Victoria Gate yet just to gawk at how shiny and “new” it is (and maybe to lust after John Lewis as well!) then Harvey Nichols should be just about to give you the nudge you need. They’ve opened a pop up Christmas Shop in Victoria Gate and have also teamed up with Nutella as part of their ‘Britalia’ campaign.

So, you can visit their Christmas pop up shop to search for some festive goodies and some presents, and get a couple of cheeky personalised jars of everyone’s favourite Italian hazelnut spread while you’re at it.

Prices start at £5 for a personalised jar or £8 for a beautiful ribbon-wrapped gift box with a personalised jar inside. We have already indulged in a jar with our initials on but you’ll need to be quick as you’ve only got until the 10th December to buy your jar! The Christmas pop up is open until 31st December, so make a date in your diary to pop down.

The Cat’s Pyjamas set to open second restaurant

The Cat’s Pyjamas has been a huge, huge hit in Headingley since opening, and for good reason. Next week, the restaurant builds on its success by hitting the city centre, opening up a second branch just a few doors down from Akbar’s.

We hope the success of Headingley translates in the city centre environment and will be heading down there next week to take a look for ourselves, so keep checking back for a full write-up.

Festive afternoon tea at Oh You Pretty Things

Oh You Pretty Things always provides an element of class in Trinity Kitchen courtesy of their amazing champagne and other boozy delights.

This month, though, they have added some festive hot chocolate to their menu, as well as a rather delectable festive afternoon tea. We will be trying it for ourselves this weekend, so watch this space for more details.

If the order of the day for you is mince pies + champagne to take the edge off the Christmas shopping in Leeds, this is the place for you.

Veeno expands its offering

The popular wine cafe chain Veeno is expanding in Leeds, with its new cafe opening doors on the 8th December at 5 Wellington Place.

If you’re already a fan of the Sicillian produce on offer here, or just enjoy drinking Italian wine in general, here’s an early Christmas present for you!

Homage2Fromage supper clubs

Here at leedsfoodie.co.uk, we’re huge fans of Homage2Fromage. Not only are they hosting their annual Christmas cheese event (a snip at £12 for non-members) but they have also organised a few pop up restaurant events.

You may well feel inclined to head over to Sheffield for two of their nights but we’re going to focus on the 16th of December and their Baked Tunworth 3 course meal. This will be followed by the final pop up event in the form of a Vacherin Night on the 17th December.

With tickets selling out fast and priced at only £25 per person for a three course cheese feast, you might want to get your tickets sharpish, after checking out our review of the fondue night!

Mi Mye – ‘I’m Dreaming Of A…’ Single Launch

Normally, the news that Mi Mye are launching a new festive single called ‘I’m Dreaming Of A…’ wouldn’t make our food news section.

However, the idea of popping into Brudenell Social Club to enjoy some festive music on the 18th December (a nice lazy Sunday) and chowing down on a Pie Minster Festive pie with all the trimmings as well whilst watching a Christmas film sounds a-mazing! This is all for only £10 (£11 with booking fee), meaning that this qualifies as some exciting festive food news!
