Leeds food news: Five exciting July updates

Amalthea Greek Bistro & Deli opens in Adel

If you’re based in north Leeds and love Greek food this could be a real winner for you! Serving breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner seven days a week and also boasting an on-site deli, this new Greek bistro could well be a real find for foodies wanting to support independent restaurants.

Whilst we haven’t yet had the pleasure of sampling the menu, we are certainly intrigued by the idea of a Greek chicken pie and can’t wait to try out some of the other interesting items on sale in the deli.

The New Conservatory launches steak night

Wednesday at The New Conservatory means one thing now: steak. For just £11 on the newly launched steak night, you get an 8oz Sirloin Steak, a choice of side, and a drink (small house wine, bottle of Moretti, or a soft drink). If that sounds like a bargain to you, it’s probably because it is a bargain; usually this would cost £22 and the steak is from Sykes House Farm.

We’re popping down in a couple of weeks to do a full review, so watch this space.

Victoria Gate restaurants starting to be announced as Le Pain Quotidien confirmed

mg_76392

It’s really not long now until Victoria Gate opens in Leeds (when we drove past the other day, we noticed that even the John Lewis sign has gone up!) and restaurants/cafes lined up to feature in the development are starting to announce their exciting news.

Le Pain Quotidien is one of the first, set to occupy a prime position in the new retail development. We’ll be there to sample the baked goods and coffee after the opening, as we’re sure will many other Leeds folk who take their breakfast seriously!

Where is it: Victoria Gate, of course!
