On Sunday 19th June, lots of families in Leeds might just be looking for a suitable place to take dad out (yes, that’s right, it’s Father’s Day on June 19th!).
Here’s a quick foodie guide that should help you navigate towards the best option for your dad this year!
Curry time: Miah’s Kitchen
Leeds is very fortunate to have a wonderful array of stunning curry houses. Picking from this fine line-up is fairly hard (especially with Tharavadu closed) but we can safely recommend Miah’s Kitchen. It has a bar area (to keep dad happy before his meal) and offers enough variety to keep the whole family happy.
Where to find it: 3 York Pl, Leeds, LS1 2DR
Posh nosh: Harvey Nichols
With some unbeatable views, a bit of retail therapy on offer after dinner, and most importantly an excellent range of gifts for that last minute present (just in case you forgot to bring something along or have been outdone by a rival sibling!), Harvey Nichol’s Fourth Floor Cafe is certainly a great option if you want to show dad you are happy to splash the cash. Just be warned: there are only lunchtime sittings.
Where to find it: 107-111 Briggate, Leeds, LS1 6AZ
Sunday Roast: The Adelphi
Here’s a chance to not only show dad you’re a bit of a foodie but also to support a business that was decimated (but has since come back even stronger) after the Christmas floods.
Sunday Roast here is outstanding but it’s the atmosphere that makes it so appealing; there’s real character here, to go hand in hand with the wide range of beers on tap. Just be warned, it is likely to be popular!
Where to find it: 1-3 Hunslet Road, Leeds,
Steak time: Fazenda
With the exception of any vegetarian or vegan dads out there, the thought of taking dad to Fazenda and letting himself get stuffed on a variety of different cuts of steak whilst sipping some classy red wine sounds like a pretty perfect option!
While you have to decide for yourselves the best thing on offer, our favourite is the picanha. If dad is feeling brave he could even indulge in a spot of chicken heart (which from our experience doesn’t taste half bad).
Where to find it: Waterman’s Place Unit 4-7 Granary Wharf, Leeds, LS1 4GL
Ooops I forgot last minute option: Frankie & Benny’s
Frankie & Benny’s is certainly not a glamour pick from this list but if you are looking for a last minute meal this could be a winning option. With dad getting two courses free (provided you are paying for another adult to do the same) and kids of all ages more than welcome at this chain, you could be forgiven for pretending to dad that this was your idea all along!
Where to find it: Unit A12, The Light, Leeds, LS1 8TL
