Update: Check out our review of POLPO here.
We all indulge a little too much over the festive season, and with the traditional end of year gluttony comes the traditional start of year health kick.
Thankfully, by the time February arrives, most of us are sick of said health kick and want to start looking around for some foodie fun again. In 2016, there’ll be a pretty good excuse to do exactly that, as Polpo Leeds will be opening in Harvey Nichols in the middle of town.
The keen-eyed amongst you might have noticed that Yo! Sushi, previously on the fourth floor near the foodmarket, has shut down in Harvey Nichols and Polpo will populate this space as of mid-February.
The restaurant will be their first north of London, and second outside London (with the other located down in Brighton). As a concept, Polpo is inspired by the rustic back-street wine bars of Venice, boasting a range of simple but delicious small plates from that special region of Italy.
The restaurant’s signature dishes are set to include fried stuffed olives (which sound genuinely amazing), deep fried polenta-crusted meatballs, and flourless chocolate and hazelnut cake for pud (yum).
Polpo is expected to compete with the likes of Harvey Nichols’ own fourth floor restaurant and bar as a location for a sophisticated drink for Leeds folk, with an exclusively Italian wine list offering such delights as Prosecco and Corvina.
