Grand Italia is set in a parade of restaurants along the promenade in Meloneras and, from our experience anyway, it’s without a doubt the busiest of the eating establishments in that very popular area.
There’s good reason for this; it’s a fantastic option for kids despite being quite a buzzy restaurant suitable for couples and groups of friends, the pizzas are brilliant, and the service is very good.
When we went, we all opted for pizza. The pizzas are huge and are freshly prepared in an open kitchen. In fact, the whole kitchen is open at Grand Italia, which is always a good sign, especially in a touristy resort such as Meloneras.
I ordered a simple pizza with buffalo mozzarella and ham. The fresh cheese on top was delicious and the texture of the pizza base was spot on. Thin and crispy, it really did taste very authentic.
The menu was extensive, featuring classic and slightly more adventurous pizzas, an array of pasta dishes featuring meat, seafood, and more straightforward vegetables, and there were also some nice fish dishes on offer. There’s also a separate children’s menu that, although we didn’t order off it, looked good.
If you’re craving a pizza whilst on holiday in this part of Gran Canaria, you can’t go wrong with Grand Italia. Oh, and it also helps that they sell genuinely delicious homemade ice cream for dessert!
