Last weekend, we were sitting in Humpit in the Corn Exchange chowing down on some sublime hummus and pita, and talking about how every time we visit this amazing foodie haunt in Leeds, it’s packed to the rafters with loyal customers.
We were talking about how it could occupy a far larger plot somewhere in Leeds, such is the quality and consistency of the food and the sheer number of devoted customers who flock back time and again.
Funnily enough, it’s just been announced that Humpit will be opening a second branch in the Merrion Centre on Wade Lane in order to continue to grow the business after a spectacular start in the city centre.
This is further good news for Humpit after they were deservedly named Best UK Street Food Start Up 2015 at the Virgin Foodpreneur awards in London.
The Merrion Centre has seen a real revival over the last couple of years in terms of being something of a magnet for foodies. It seems like a very savvy choice of location for the new Humpit branch, with the Merrion a key draw for students as well as Saturday shoppers.
We hope the second branch does as well as the Corn Exchange branch and that this Leeds business continues to pump out amazing, healthy, fresh fast food for many years to come!
