Despite not being a member of Homage2Fromage, I am a massive cheese fan and have often lamented the lack of a decent cheese cafe in the middle of town. Even the likes of Harvey Nicks Food Market doesn’t really cater for serious cheese lovers!
That has all changed (well, for 6 months it has!) as the clever people at Homage2Fromage have teamed up with LAB in the Merrion Centre to create a temporary pop up called the Cheese Cafe.
Whilst the Cheese Cafe is not a permanent addition to the Leeds food scene, the next few months should prove to be an exciting period for fans of fromage. The cafe will offer a nice range of local as well as unusual cheeses from around the world, the menu offering such treats as diverse as fondue, pizza, and Yorkshire Rarebit.
I for one hope to be popping down soon (the cafe opens on the 9th October) and if the pop up meets my expectations we may end up having to beg the LAB bar to permanently convert to a cheesey heaven for Leeds foodies!
