While Monarch, Jet2 and Ryanair already offer Manchester to Barcelona routes, the introduction on the 22nd June of a four times weekly service (Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays) means that those who are keen on using Avios points now have the option to do so.
The new route is courtesy of Vueling, a low cost brand of Iberia, and flights can be booked under a BA flight number, meaning that you can collect tier and Avios points should you wish to do so.
Prices seem reasonable at the moment, but given the competitive nature of short haul flights, it will be interesting to see if this route is sustainable. For those with more geeky tendencies, the current plane flying the route is an Airbus A320!
Have you used this route? Do you think it will work? Have you been able to collect Avios or tier points or have you struggled to claim them? Let me know in the comments section below.
