There is good news for fish and chip fans in Edinburgh. The L’Alba d’Oro in Henderson Row (voted best fish and chip shop by the Times last year) has long been our favourite chippy when we are here on our annual visit but it has always meant driving down there to pick up our grub which sometimes after a day of activity is a bit of an effort.
When we were here last year we discovered quite fortuitously that the L’Alba d’Oro had started to deliver. We put it to the test but the online ordering system wasn’t working and so after numerous frustrating attempts we gave up and had to place our order by phone. That apart, it worked well.
Fast forward twelve months and the online gremlin had been put in its place. This time it was quick and easy to order and the food ordered for 7pm turned up at 7.02 which was pretty impressive. Everything was piping hot, the extras such as the little pots of sauce were all there and for only £2.50 delivery charge we were delighted with the service.
We had bought our own wine but had we forgotten this vital ingredient the L’Alba d’Oro could have delivered that as well. Deliveries are only made to postcodes EH1 to EH12 and there is a minimum order of £5.
If you are not a fish and chip fan, it is still worth looking at the website as there is plenty more on offer, including pizzas and pasta.
Our full review will follow soon so stay tuned on our Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest pages for news on when it will be published.
