There’s just one month of 2016 Leeds food news left before things get all Christmassy around here, so here it is – bask while you can in the non-tinsel covered November food news! This month we bring you cinema with a twist, more meat than you can shake a stick at, and an idea for helping out a good cause whilst stuffing your face. What more could you possibly want?!
Al fresco cinema at House of Peroni
If you enjoy cinema and you enjoy good food, you might just want to head down to Amare l’ Italia, put on by The House of Peroni and Harvey Nichols. Between 2nd and 12th November, you can watch some Italian-inspired films whilst enjoying Peroni Nastro Azzurro infused drinks, a range of delicious Italian food, and all of this in a beautiful setting.
Tickets are priced at £20 per person. To purchase tickets and to find out more info and see what films are showing, check out the House of Peroni website.
Curry night at Crag House Farm
We love Crag House Farm, a really family-friendly foodie destination in north Leeds, and on Friday 11th November, you can get your hands on a tasty curry in the beautiful setting of the surrounding countryside.
Highlights include lamb samosas, prawn and cashew curry, and white chocolate panna cotta with rhubarb. Three courses will set you back around £20 – you can’t say fairer than that.
Rum-inspired tasting dinner at Shears Yard
Shears Yard are hosting a five-course tasting dinner from 7pm on 15th November. The dinner, which will set you back £50, will feature bold flavours inspired by rum brand Appleton Estate. Tickets will also give you access to three cocktails and two flights of Appleton 12 and 21 year old, along with a Mai Tai on arrival.
It’s set to be a boozy affair, that’s for sure, especially with the evening ending with a salted toffee rum baba!
MEATliquor bid to raise money for good cause
Fergus Henderson, famed for his nose to tail dining approach and with a Michelin star to his name, teams up with MEATliquor on 2nd November to raise money for Parkinsons UK. £30 will buy you one of Henderson’s amazing and very special ‘brain’ burgers, a drink, and a limited edition apron. This is one not to miss if you love all things MEATliquor (which we very much do!).
Stellar line-up for November Belgrave Feast
Another month, another Belgrave Feast, and this one sounds mighty fine. There will be appearances from Raclette Brothers, Mac Shack, Fat Annies (their hot dogs are legendary), Parmstar (good for a heart attack on a plate), and more. If you’ve never been to a Belgrave Feast before, these are really family-friendly events, and definitely worth a try.
New menu at Blackhouse
Blackhouse is a Leeds favourite on the foodie scene, and their new menu will return this restaurant firmly back to its roots. Steak and seafood will take the leading roles, with classic cuts of beef mixed in with more premium cuts like English Galician (nope, we hadn’t heard of it either but apparently it tastes divine) and Wagyu.
The Butcher’s Block, a Himalayan rock salt aged cut of steak weighed at your table is likely to be the talking point around a fair few dinner tables over the next few months.
Harvey Nichols and La Bottega Milanese team up
Polpo didn’t last long in Harvey Nichols, but taking its place is a third branch of La Bottega Milanese. We’re confident this will be around far longer than its predecessor. The espresso bar has been open for a couple of weeks already but with November being its first full month in its new home, it’ll be pushing its speciality coffee, naughty cakes, and savoury goodies with gusto.
That’s it for now! If there’s anything we’ve missed, please email us or comment below.
