Last week, we decided to venture out with our new baby to somewhere local for a quick lunch. We wanted to try somewhere new and, since we were heading down to Aldi in Meanwood, we decided to look for options between Adel and Meanwood.
We happened across The Well, a lovely little cafe in Meanwood that offers customers sandwiches, all day breakfasts, jacket potatoes, cakes, and freshly baked bread.
Unusually for us, we opted for the same lunch option: a spicy chicken fajita wrap. As we waited for our food, we indulged in a cup of coffee. My mocha was particularly enjoyable; rich, chocolatey and velvety, it tasted naughty and indulgent whilst providing a nice caffeine kick.
Our food arrived piping hot and smelling amazing. The chicken was well cooked and the wrap had a nice kick of spice to it. The flavour was spot on and the portion size was generous. The chicken was accompanied by some fried onions and peppers, along with some fresh salad. For the price we paid, it was a really good lunch.
We hadn’t planned on a cake to go with our wraps, but after seeing the marshmallow brownies that were decorating the top of the counter, who were we to resist?! The marshmallow brownie was gooey, rich, and had just the right chocolatey balance between bitter and sweet. If you do happen to wander past The Well, pop in even if only for a coffee and a brownie!
The Well offers a peaceful retreat in busy Meanwood. It has some nice touches inside like a shelf full of porridge toppings that you can help yourself to, as well as a stack of books that you’re invited to read.
Meanwood isn’t too spoiled by decent lunch options, but this is one cafe that deserves to do well in this up and coming area of Leeds.
